INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL TERRORISM (English Version)

There are 30: 13 are the founding members, 10 members are observers, others have applied for. These are the most important analysts of terrorism that have become associated, as from 2003 (foundation year), an organization called the International Academic Counter-Terrorism Community (ICTAC) which met periodically in various parts of the world.

This year they will meet in Italy, in a specialized conference organized by the IDC Interdisciplinary Center in Israel and Ce.A.S. - Centre for advanced studies on terrorism and political violence - the only Italian participant and founding member of the association, at the Scienctific Park - Campus “Selva dei Pini” in  Pomezia town, from March 4^th to 6^th.

 

At the International Conference on Global Terrorism there will be international and worldwide known experts, as a greater, technical and analytical scientific expression in the five continents. In fact, the experts attending the meeting come from the United States, France, China, South Africa, Latin America, Slovenia, Serbia, Israel, Spain, Greece and even the United Nations.

The topic discussed, as also suggested by the title, shows a reclassification and somehow a requalification of the analysis on terrorism. No longer the traditional distinction between terrorists defined in terms of its typical connotation (Islamic terrorists, Marxist terrorists, etc ...), but according to the area of political influence (local terrorists, global, glocal). This innovation leads to consider the terrorists not only in their capacity as opposed to defined schemes and so into a geopolitical border, but mainly as having power to influence determinants of political phenomena in the system of international relations. This general approach will be discussed in 3 days of isolated and intense work. In fact, for security reasons, even the detailed program has not been disseminated. The conference, due to the subjects covered and the importance of the analysts, is reserved only to selected participants with a personal invitation.  Anyway,  at the end of the conference a report on the state of global terrorism will be drawn up and will be  sent to senior policy makers of the international community as a contribution to the definition of an institutional strategy to fight terrorism.
